SHARING MORE RESOURCES FROM MENHEALING AUTHORS

During coming months, we will continue to grow the Resources section of our website by adding more publications authored by personnel directly affiliated with MenHealing.  PDF documents for a variety of chapters will be  included for free user access as well as information about books and where to access for purchase.

Here are links for two more PDF documents:

Published in 1990, the author provides important intersectional links between patriarchal dominance and sexual violation.  Thirty-three years later, these observations remain relevant to understanding the social/political context that continues to fuel the epidemic of sexual victimization for men and male-identified individuals as well as for women and female-identified individuals.

This chapter from Understanding the Sexual Betrayal of Boys and Men focuses on the effects of sexual trauma for gay and bisexual males. The authors challenge traditionally rigid paradigms for understanding gender and sexuality. This discussion is particularly relevant for men and male-identified survivors of sexual victimization.

LOOKING FORWARD TO 2023 WEEKEND OF RECOVERY EVENTS

We are getting ready to open registrations for 2023 Weekends

The Melanated Survivors WOR (May 2023) is planned as a healing and community-building experience for healers and survivors of color. For more information about date, location, and registration, contact Richard Smith or Kenton Kirby

YEAH!!!! We have filled all registrations for the Best Friends Service Project (April 2023). This dynamic weekend provides an opportunity for WOR/DOR Alumni and MenHealing Facilitators, Board, and Support Staff to share service to Best Friends, the premiere organization that provides services for abused and neglected animals.

The 2023 Advanced WOR (8/4 – 8/6/23) will focus on Empowering Love and Power in Relationships and will again be open for partners also to attend. Registration opens April 4th.

The Level 1 WOR (9/18 – 9/20/23) provides a healing environment for adult men and male-identified survivors to acquire skills, increase connection, and join a community of survivors. Registration opens May 18th.

The Pay What You Can Afford payment structure was launched in 2022 will continue in 2023 to make our healing resources more accessible for survivors who experience financial barriers and difficulties.

REMEMBER THAT FINANCIAL CONTRIBUTIONS FROM INDIVIDUAL DONORS LIKE YOU ARE THE LIFEBLOOD THAT ALLOWS MENHEALING TO CONTINUE OUR WORK. 85% OF OUR BUDGET IS RECEIVED FROM INDIVIDUAL DONORS; 15% OF OUR BUDGET IS RECEIVED FROM EVENT REGISTRATIONS. WE DO NOT RECEIVE FUNDING FROM FOUNDATIONS OR GOVERNMENT GRANTS.

YOU can make a difference:  YOUR DONATION OF ANY AMOUNT WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE FOR MALE SURVIVORS: one…human…at…a…time.

Consider ways you can support MenHealing during 2023

…Ask others to contribute a donation in your honor for your Birthday, Anniversary, or any other special event…

     …Contribute a portion of your up-coming tax return…

…Request to add MenHealing as an option if your employer provides matching charitable gifts…

…Review your Estate Planning and add MenHealing for a Legacy Gift…

Your donation can be designated for any specific project area, to support survivors who experience financial hardship to attend a WOR event, or to support general program needs.

Make 2023 the year you SHOW UP FOR SURVIVORS with a financial contribution of any amount.

We especially want to thank the growing community of regular sustaining donors. Consider whether YOU can join as a recurring donor at any amount.

Remember, YOU can forward this newsletter to anyone or any organization that you think might be interested. Thanks for spreading the word!
