for Male Survivors of Sexual Trauma
Weekend of Recovery (WOR) Retreats provide support for any male – 18 or older – who is a survivor of sexual trauma as a child and/or as an adult. Healing in community is a powerful way to lessen isolation and reduce feelings of shame. By engaging participants in creating an environment that supports safety needs for male survivors, our program format seeks to acknowledge and to honor the authentic diversities of attendees at each WOR (racial, ethnic, class, spirituality, sexuality, gender, etc.).
Alumni of WOR retreats report the experience contributed to easing their suffering; to enabling higher functioning; to facilitating healthier relationships with friends, partners, children; to inspiring activism; and to diminishing the cycle of victimization.
We seek to make the Weekend of Recovery financially accessible to everyone. To minimize financial barriers, we have provided the full actual cost to conduct a WOR. We appreciate payment for the entire cost for Triple and Double Occupancy Rooms. However, if you are unable to pay the entire cost, we allow you to submit payment for an amount that better reflects your budget. We do require a minimum payment of 10% of the actual cost and registrants for single occupancy rooms are expected to pay the full cost. For a more comprehensive clarification of our financial policy for registration, read more...

The atmosphere of Hope Springs is relaxed, intimate and informal. This will be our 14th Weekend of Recovery that we have conducted at Hope Springs since 2007.
Private meeting spaces are available for all Weekend of Recovery sessions. The weekend is designed to provide a mixture of full participant community activities and small group breakout sessions.

Large group sessions are conducted in a wonderfully-designed Studio Building, and small groups are conducted in several comfortable physical spaces in the Farmhouse. Special attention is given to creating safe environments that allow participation at whatever level is authentic for each participant.
The Studio Building and Farmhouse provide comfortable lodging.
The weekend incorporates mindfulness skills as a tool for managing difficult emotions such as anxiety.
Abundant green space and a contemplative labyrinth provide wonderful settings for expanded mindfulness and program activities.
The weekend allows ample leisure time for reflection and to enjoy the restorative setting of an expansive Appalachian Woodland. This sanctuary includes user-friendly trails and creates an environment of solitude. Optional time for meditation walks and a low-impact recreational hike are included in the program agenda.
