Weekend of Recovery (WOR) Retreats provide support for any male – 18 or older – who is a survivor of sexual trauma as a child and/or as an adult. Healing in community is a powerful way to lessen isolation and reduce feelings of shame. By engaging participants in creating an environment that supports safety needs for male survivors, our program format seeks to acknowledge and to honor the authentic diversities of attendees at each WOR (racial, ethnic, class, spirituality, sexuality, gender, etc.). Alumni of WOR retreats report the experience contributed to easing their suffering; to enabling higher functioning; to facilitating healthier relationships with friends, partners, children; to inspiring activism; and to diminishing the cycle of victimization.
The Weekends of Recovery (WOR) are conducted at locations throughout the United States. Venues are carefully selected with special attention to providing safe environments for positive healing experiences. Because of the high quality of facilities, the special environment setting, and the superior competency of staff – we have established a unique working relationship with each of the site locations.
The program offers a wide range of activities designed for safety and with attention for how to engage male survivors who may have a long history of isolation. Our events provide a blending of large and small group activities. Visit What is WOR? for more information.
Days of Recovery are shortened versions of our longer weekend programs.
We do not want cost to be a barrier for anyone to attend any of our retreats.
Registration fees cover the actual costs for conducting a WOR and are not to generate a profit. The fees are inclusive of lodging (two nights), food (seven meals), and program services. However, if you are unable to pay the entire cost, we allow you to submit payment for an amount that better reflects your budget. We do require a minimum payment of 10% of the actual cost.
Alta Advanced Weekend of Recovery, Alta Utah, August 4 - 6, 2023
This Advanced Weekend of Recovery will focus on providing participants with the skills to balance and integrate being both loving and powerful in relationships. Trauma can set up survivors of sexual abuse to be trapped in responding in relationships from a submissive or aggressive stance. Power in relationships generally gets a bad reputation; however, love without power is ineffective, and power without love is manipulative. The skills of embodying both love and power will increase participants’ ability to handle conflicts, be more self-directed, and feel safer to be more open in relationships.
If you have a partner, they are also welcome and encouraged – but not required - to join you.
You are encouraged to register early as our weekends frequently fill quickly. Registration will open on April 4th, 2023 and remain open until July 21st, 2023. Learn more here
